My English Communication Skills Needed Work

After graduating with two bachelor’s degrees and a master’s degree, I enjoyed a diverse and thriving career in youth empowerment and education, cross-cultural communication, marketing, and executive education in the nonprofit, private, higher education, and startup sectors. Yet, sometimes I didn’t present my ideas persuasively, and they went nowhere. Or I spoke about them in an unorganized manner, and others got lost. Sometimes, I felt intimidated and didn’t speak up to share my ideas or concerns. Therefore, I wasn’t heard.

I Discovered a New Career Path

While leading marketing at UMKC’s Bloch Executive Education, I worked with an executive director with a powerful presence and clear communication, and an articulate and influential executive coach. They inspired me to take my career path in a new direction. I sought training and relentlessly honed my spoken and written English communication skills. 

I Earned Certifications in Teaching English and Interview Coaching

Helping others communicate effectively in their second language, English, was a perfect fit for me. I became certified in Teaching English as a Foreign Language and Interview Coaching. I was ready to launch a new career in English communication and interview coaching. 

I Helped Hundreds of People Improve Their Communication Skills

I became a professional teacher on the language-learning platform, Italki. During seven years, I taught more than 5,000 lessons to over 1,000 individuals in roles ranging from university students to CEOs. Through these one-on-one lessons, I helped professionals improve their English communication skills for interviews, presentations, and business meetings. My clients improved work relationships, landed new jobs, earned raises, and advanced their careers. The same is possible for you, even if you feel discouraged. I can show you how.

Express to Impress Is Born

In 2020, I launched Express to Impress to help more people confidently, clearly, and persuasively express what they want. In addition to coaching, I offer online courses, the popular Express to Impress Podcast, my services, and articles.

I specialize in ESL job seekers and physicians and offer a wealth of experience and knowledge regarding cultural differences that impact communication in the workplace.
